Design 2008-09

The Canal Street Studio is an urban, live work project overlooking the Fremont Ship Canal. The building features full height windows between concrete party walls and a central two story courtyard - maximizing its connection to the landscape and the sky. A green roof, solar hot water and photovoltaics help reduce storm water runoff and power consumption. The third floor caretakers quarters and rooftop deck overlook the Canal and courtyard, and a north facing ceramics studio scoops light from the alley.
