SMART GROWTH — MISSING MIDDLE HOUSING — GREEN BUIDING

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Seattle needs 125,000 new homes in the next 25 years. Green zoning decarbonizes land use for compact, sustainable living. When people live close to their jobs, schools, transit, and amenities they can enjoy a whole spectrum of benefits.

In the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, this zoned Residential Small Lot (RSL) has an existing single-family house on the property. The project was to create three residences, each with an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) for a total of 6 units. The single-family house in front was split into a duplex, with a basement ADU on each half and the new structure in the backyard is a single-family house with its own ADU.
