Since co-founding CAST in 1999, Stefan has focused on a broad range of community and residential work throughout the western states. Stefan knows a successful project springs from listening to the client’s needs, understanding complex technical performance and budgetary issues, and synthesizing solutions that exceed the owner’s expectations. Stefan is a licensed architect in the State of Washington and Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado and has a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington School of Architecture. He served as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, and a lecturer at the University of Washington School of Architecture. Prior to CAST, Stefan worked for architectural firms in New York, Boulder, and Seattle with an emphasis on environmental graphics, tectonics, technology, detailing, and sustainability.   


Matt Hutchins, AIA, Certified Passive House Designer - principal

As one of the founders of CAST architecture, Matt has spent more than twenty years working to increase the vitality of the city and the environment. Through the thoughtful design of housing, vibrant urban spaces, inclusive community design and advocacy for more open space and abundant housing, Matt brings idealism and experience to each project. His design work integrates architecture and landscape, plans for flexible function, and builds for longevity and performance. He is pragmatic, collaborative, and always client-centered.

Matt serves on the Seattle Planning Commission, is a Strategic Councilor for AIA Washington, and is President-Elect of AIA Seattle’s Board of Directors. He has co-chaired AIA Seattle’s Housing Task Force, and organized many public programs on urban design, housing, and accessory dwelling units. He was named AIA Seattle’s Volunteer of the Year in 2020. He is a former Southwest Design Review Board Member, and Groundswell NW Treasurer. In 2017, he co-founded MOAR (More Options for Accessory Residences), a grassroots organization that helped pass Seattle’s landmark ADU reform. Seattle Magazine named Matt one of the 35 Most Influential People in 2019. Matt is a registered architect in Washington. He graduated with Honors from the University of Colorado, and Distinction from Arizona State University. He has taught design at the University of Washington and Arizona State University.


Tim Hammer, principal, architect

Tim has worked on a spectrum of residential, multifamily, and mixed-use projects.  He has a reputation for listening to and addressing his client's needs and is noted for his ability to distill a complex matrix of requirements, ideas, and desires into simple, elegant building solutions. His appreciation of craftsmanship and nature informs his designs and helps his work respond to each site's unique conditions and surrounding context.

As a principal at CAST Tim fosters a culture of thoughtful, collaborative design that draws on the collective strengths of the entire team in order to deliver design excellence. His award-winning projects have been featured in numerous regional and national publications. Tim joined CAST architecture in 2006 and became a principal in 2012.  He is a registered architect in the State of Washington. He received a Bachelor of Art and Design from Montana State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. While studying at the University of Washington, he was awarded an 18-month research scholarship to live and study architecture in Japan.


Forrest Murphy, principal, architect, LEED AP BD+C

Forrest has spent much of his career helping non-profit and institutional clients balance programmatic and strategic goals with technical and budgetary realities. He champions a data-driven approach to understanding program needs, and a collaborative, integrated design process. He has a wide range of experience working with private and public clients from the non-profit sector. He has particular experience in early childhood education and with complex renovations and additions projects.

Prior to joining CAST, Forrest worked with Schacht | Aslani Architects in Seattle and Torres/LaPeña Arquitectos in Barcelona, Spain. Forrest is a registered architect in the State of Washington and is a LEED AP BD+C. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Washington and a Master of Architecture from Yale University. 


Rebecca Wilcox, LEED AP BD+C - architect, director of sustainability

Rebecca is an innate problem-solver who is always searching for the most elegant solution. With a background in physics and astronomy, and experience with a broad range of craft media (wood, metal, glass, fiber, ceramics), she enjoys architecture as the dovetailing of science and art. Rebecca has worked on residential and community projects of all sizes as a member of the CAST team, and worked on both public and private school projects for several years in the Bay Area of California. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Astronomy and a Master of Architecture, all from the University of Washington. She once hiked 500 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, breaking her foot in the process. If there were another 8 hours in every day she would spend them making things with her hands.


Natalie Grimm - architect

Raised in Colorado, Natalie earned her Master of Architecture from Kansas State University College of APDesign. At K-State, she developed a passion for design that is well integrated into its context, serving as a platform for communities to foster growth. After completing her degree, Natalie joined the CAST team and earned her licensure in the state of Washington. In her free time, Natalie enjoys painting, rockin’ music, spending time with friends and family, and finding new recipes to make and bake.


Will Prescott - associate

Originally from the Midwest, Will was drawn towards the rugged natural landscapes of the PNW and the opportunity to sensitively and sustainably connect them with the built environment. Will began his design career in his native Chicago, focusing on multi-family housing design for several years before an interest in urban farming steered him towards a position as a landscape designer. Mediating between the natural and constructed environment, he has experience in rooftop agriculture, residential green roofs, civic parks, and riverfront remediation projects. Will holds a B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois and moved to Seattle in 2019 to pursue a dual Masters in Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington. When out of the office, he can be found ogling at, hiking alongside, and sketching against the awe-inspiring trees of the Puget Sound.


Emilio Craddock

Born in Torino, Italy, Emilio grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he fell in love with nature and the outdoors. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia. Drawn to the majestic Pacific Northwest, he attended the University of Washington and earned a dual Master of Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture. Emilio believes design should work towards creating positive change for the environment. He has studied how architecture can integrate systems to create circular cities and merge landscape and architecture into a unified design. In his free time, Emilio enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and adventuring by foot, bike, and on skis.


George Lee - architect

George has worked on a wide variety of projects including residential, commercial, and institutional projects in Seattle, San Francisco, and Singapore. He endeavors to approach architecture as equal parts problem-solver and artist. He enjoys finding ways to provide greater economy, sustainability, and ingenuity through design.

Originally from San Francisco, he received a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a licensed architect in the State of Washington. Outside the office, George enjoys exploring the neighborhoods and cooking with foods from different cultures.


Lloyd Ramsay - architect

Lloyd Ramsay, a graduate of the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, completed his Master of Architecture before embarking on a diverse professional journey. After gaining valuable experience at several firms in Australia, he transitioned into a sole practitioner role in 2017, focusing predominantly on residential and hospitality projects. Lloyd is known for his drive to extract unimagined potential from client briefs, shaping his distinctive approach to design.

Beyond architecture, his passions include photography and exploring nature and the latest cafes on his bicycle. Lloyd finds inspiration in tinkering with cars and embracing the open road, contributing to his relocation to the Pacific Northwest.


Madeline Goryl, LEED Green Associate - architect

Having grown up in the Chicago area, Madeline studied architecture at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. She discovered a passion for community-oriented design and connecting people to nature through architecture. After graduating, she spent a summer working at an organic farm in the Pacific Northwest and never looked back. She moved to Seattle and earned her license as an architect in the state of Washington.

When not working, she can be found exploring the outdoors through backpacking trips, biking adventures, or even just testing something out in her backyard garden.


Connor Stein - associate

Connor is a Pacific Northwest transplant from his native Alabama. After studying ecology and climate change as an undergraduate, he earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Washington where his studies focused on both the practical and philosophical character of dwelling. When he’s not designing homes, he can usually be found exploring Seattle on foot with his dogs.

Anna was born and raised in the Methow Valley. She received her B.S. of Architecture and M.Arch from Washington State University. At graduation, Anna won the 2023 AIA Medal for Academic Excellence. She is passionate about supporting healthy environments and people through design. When she is not working, Anna enjoys painting, sketching, rafting, and skiing.

As a fourth-generation Alaskan, Elin’s transition to the Pacific Northwest was easy as it offers rich access to nature, four-season activities, connection to family, and friendly people. Elin is a designer, writer, and Certified Professional Services Marketer. She has collaborated on marketing efforts in the professional services realm throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 16+ years. As marketing director, she focuses on messaging and branding to reflect CAST’s expertise and excellent reputation. Elin enjoys time with her family and teenage daughter, traveling, and discovering her next favorite tea.


Holly Lin

Holly joined the team as bookkeeper in 2009.  As the company has grown, she has moved into HR administration duties in addition to accounting.  Before coming to CAST she had 15 years of accounting experience. While Holly enjoys keeping things orderly, she has a non-linear side, too. She has a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati. In her time away from the office, she enjoys creating art, hiking and camping, and snowboarding.
