SPOKANE SIX
MULTIFAMILY HOUSING — MIDDLE HOUSING — SIX-PLEX — PNW ARCHITECTURE
SPOKANE, Washington
The simple form of the Spokane Six is energy efficient and articulated with deep roof overhangs and a front porch structure. The scale fits the neighborhood where it will be adjacent to single-family homes.
It is inspired by Passive House principles and is a compact rectangle, conventionally framed, with a slab-on-grade foundation and trussed roof—all of which contribute to a low cost per square foot. It features extra attic insulation to minimize heat loss, resulting in significant energy savings over the building's lifespan. There are ERVs for enhanced indoor air quality, and each home has windows on three sides for daylighting and ventilation.
Homes feature:
Ample windows in bedrooms and living spaces for daylight and ventilation
Room-sized private porches
High-efficiency building systems with heat pump heating/cooling
Enhanced indoor air quality
Energy Star Appliances and in-unit Laundry
5 Parking spaces, EV Charging, and Private Bike Lockers
Building materials with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and high recycled content
Landscape design featuring drought-tolerant native plants
